Red Hot Seats

Just when we thought we had seen the last of the dirt dobber nests I pulled out the old seat cushions. What a mess. I am going to get a quote from Beachwood Canvas to replace the cushions. The original color was red. Hopefully we will have the body back in six to eight weeks. In the meantime we need to get everything prepared for final assembly.

Metal Rehab

The tub and associated metal parts have been delivered to Metal Rehab. Should be ready for the next step in two or three weeks. We are anxious to get on with it.

Refinishing the Body Begins

We have decided to send the body parts to Metal Rehab to be chemically prepared prior to performing the body and paint work. They are highly recommended. Their environmentally safe process throughly strips the metal parts of paint, rust, sealers, and body filler.

62 Year Old Engine Good As New

Finally Figured Out the Carb

Initially I had trouble maintaining idle. The low range circuit of the carburetor was not delivering any fuel. I disassembled the carb and found some blockage in the low speed jet. Once I cleared the jet and put everything back together the motor runs smooth as silk.

Starting the Willys

After solving several small problems we have been able to start the Willys. The carburetor is going to need some more work. I can't get a smooth idle. But it's going to be a while before will be take the jeep on the road so there is plenty of time to get the bugs out.

For Your Entertainment

Original Style 6 Volt Battery

I have ordered an original style battery from Antique Auto Battery. It should arrive tomorrow. Once I get the battery charged the next step is to get the engine prepared for a test run ASAP.

Time to Find a Body Shop

Today I was able to get the windshield separated from it's frame. Everything has been removed from the body and now it is time to find someone to complete the body work and paint. Replacement body parts are readily available but we believe we can save all the original parts except possibly the tailgate. I am anxious to get the project done.

Time to Get the Body Ready

We are making great progress. I rearranged the garage to make room for the tub and body parts. I need to do some prep prior to having the paint work done. It will probably be May or June before I actually take it to a body shop.
